EURISK: The History of Climate Risk Management in the EU (ERC)
Can the risk of climate change be managed? While many scholars and activists continue to focus on the problem of motivating action to avoid future climate consequences, historical evidence shows that future began already several decades ago. Funded by the European Research Council (under grant agreement 101303717), EURISK uncovers efforts by various actors in the EU to manage climate risk since the 1990s and thus narrates a new economic history of climate change.
PRIVREV: Privatization Revisited: A Global Analysis
In 2026-2027 Mislav Radic and Grace Ballor lead PRIVIT, a global empirical analysis of privatization supported by a Bocconi SPS Multidisciplinary Research Grant.
PRIVIT: The Politics of Italian Privatizations (PRIN)
From 2023-2026, Antonio Bonatesta, Giuliano Garavini, and Grace Ballor co-directed a PRIN project (PRIVIT) funded by the Italian Ministry (CUP: J53D23000120001). This project examined the Privatization of the Italian economy in the 1990s and investigated Italian neoliberalism in the context of European governance. PRIVIT yielded several publications, including articles on Italian telecommunications in the European Review of History and Enterprise & Society by postdoctoral fellow Mattia Ravano, a special issue on the “European varieties of neoliberalism” in Contemporary European History, and two forthcoming edited volumes published in Italian by Viella.
